President's Message

Jacqueline Fabricatore BSN, RN, CPHON

Happy Fall Beta Xi Members!

I started my Beta Xi journey as a Leadership Intern in 2016. After moving through the leadership succession committee and spending five years as Publicity Chair, I am honored to now be serving as President and following the footsteps of Past-President Dr. Pia Inguito.

Under Dr. Inguito’s leadership Beta Xi has received its 11th key award. The Chapter Key award, established in 1991, honors Sigma chapters that excel in the following activities: membership recruitment and retention; publicity and programing; professional and leadership development; and local, national, and international collaboration. Our key award, along with a new banner, will be presented at Sigma’s 46th Biennial Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. This convention will be held November 6-10th and we are very fortunate to have a group of Beta Xi leaders attending.

We have already had an exciting start to the fall season celebrating our new members with the return our membership appreciation night. The event was held at Deer Park on October 5th and was an excellent reunion after seeing each other on Zoom for the past year and a half. It was so nice to get to know our new members in person after having a virtual induction in the spring. We also had a group of chapter members that attended Sigma’s 35th Annual Tri-State Consortium on October 24th. This year’s theme was “The Year of the Nurse Revisited” and included a keynote lecture on “Pandemics Through Recent History” and a keynote panel that discussed “Diverse Perspectives on the Implications of the COVID-19 Pandemic.”

Looking ahead to more chapter events in the future, the Holiday Outreach Party at Upper Bay will be held in December. Stay tuned as to how you can contribute to this worthy effort. This is just one way in which we as a chapter are able to give back and we welcome any new opportunities.

I am looking forward to working with all of you over the next two years. Please watch for announcements, news, and via the Circle, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. We always appreciate feedback and ideas so please do not hesitate to reach out.

Enjoy the rest of your fall season!

Congratulations Beta Xi!

We received our 11th
Consecutive Key Award AND 2nd Ethel Palmer Clark Award!
